Origins Barbershop opened on the south side of Grand View Boulevard, a few blocks from where Mar Vista runs into Venice. Six chairs, no chain affiliation, no rotating posters of the haircut of the season.
Most of the work that comes through the door is fades — skin fades, razor fades, taper fades — and the scissor trims that take longer than people expect when they're done well. Said handles tapers the way a tailor handles a cuff. Sergio runs the longer cuts. Elvis, Liliana, and Luis split the rest of the chairs. The owners cut hair too.
The shop is open six days a week. Walk-ins are welcome before 4 PM most days, but appointments are how the regulars keep their slots. Sundays they're closed. It's the kind of place where the people working there know your hair and your job and what you do on weekends.
Six chairs. Four pairs of shears. One straight razor sharpened on Saturdays.
Pricing is plain. We don't upsell, we don't tier by chair, we don't charge more for thicker hair. Walk in, sit down, get cut.

“My guy Said knew exactly what I wanted and even knew what I didn't know I wanted. An artist.”

“Origins is arguably one of the best barbershops in LA. I got cut by a few of their barbers and all turned out amazing. Glad to have this shop in the community.”

“I would follow my barber Luis anywhere, and his latest spot is Origins. Good luck getting an appt with him, but all the guys there are great and the owners are very good and hardworking guys, and they really know their stuff when it comes to hair and beards.”
Rob L. · Yelp
“Got me looking and feeling good for a wedding I'm going to attend. Would recommend 10/10.”
